A Very Merry Christmas to You

Here is the second card that we made over at my December card making workshop with the residents at the Luther Manor Retirement Community:

We used the cute little images from Stampin' Up's No Peeking stamp set and I made a bunch of different banners with holiday saying to go with.  One of the residents even made four different cards!! I love how she used silver sequins on the tree :)

Holiday Candy Penguin Card

I created this card last a couple of days ago with the Stampin' Up No Peeking set and my new pack of Christmas paper.  I've really liked the combination of pink and light green on holiday cards lately...I seem to be using it a lot!  And the blue adds a nice touch :)

This is one of the four cards I have as part of my new Christmas card kit set.  I made up a bunch of them last week to sell at my upcoming craft fairs.

Simon Says Wednesday Challenge - 11/20/13

This is the first time I am entering in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge over at the Simon Says Stamp Blog. Here is the sketch:

And here's the card that I came up with:

I've been using the retired Stampin' Up No Peeking stamp set a lot this year!!  I got it at the end of last year and wasn't able to use it much before Christmas last year.  Not that I don't make holiday cards all year, but it's not to be able to use it again without feeling that Christmas is sooooo far away!  I also used the Petite Pairs set for the sentiment.

Magnificent Maple Leaves

Here is the second card that I made for the River Oaks October workshop with Samantha Hanson:

I think this is one my favorite cards that I've made this year!!  I love the new magnificent maple stamp from stampin' up and it works perfect with another little leaf stamp I found laying around. I wouldn't normally put them together, but these colors are so fun for fall cards!!

We took some pictures at the workshop of the residents hard at work:

CASology #69

This is the first time I'd had a chance to play along with the CASology challenge.  I love this challenge because, just like the name states, it focuses on clean and simple designs.  I love looking at the cards that everyone comes up with!  This week's theme was brown:

Here's what I came up with:

For this card, I used the No Peeking set from Stampin' Up.  I ordered it at the end of last year, so I haven't gotten to use it as much as I'd like!  The stamps are so cute and they are perfect for holiday cards!  I also used my new More Merry Messages stamps for the greeting.

Sympathy and Prayers

Here is my first sympathy card.  I didn't realize until my mom asked me for one a few weeks ago that I didn't have any.  I guess it's not the kind of event that you normally think to make cards for.

Anyways, I tried to go for the "elegant, but simple" look for this one.  For the background, I used one of my new favorite stampin' up embossing folders - elegant boutique.  I colored in the center of the flowers with a black marker and glitter and then added some butterflies and a sentiment.

Please excuse the lovely line in the center of the card. My camera is currently not working right now, and I've had to use my moms until I can get a new one :(

Materials Used:
  • Stampin' Up -  elegant boutique embossing folder, bitty butterfly punch, petite pairs
  • Paper - white cardstock, black cardstock
  • Other - black ink, black marker, glitter

D'vine Swirl Christmas Card

Today I have another Christmas card to share.  One of my favorite things about the holidays is all of the cute crafts you can make - especially card.  I find myself making them all year long.  And you can never have enough Christmas Cards :)

For this one, i used some Christmas design paper and ran it through by big shot to create a textured look.  I  used the scentsational seasons embosslits to cut out the tree and put some green polka-dot paper behind it.  I then added the star on top and some baker's twine to finish it off. Not sure how I feel about the silver glitter on the star - may have to change that to red glitter.

Materials Used:
  • Stampin' up: scentsational season emboslits
  • Paper - Christmas design paper from joanne's, green polka-dot paper, white cardstock
  • Other - d'vine swirl embossing folder, red baker's twine, glitter

Happy Hour Christmas Card

I had to pull out the Stampin' Up Happy Hour set again for this card.  This set is super cute and perfect for lots occasion - birthdays, celebrations, and of course - Christmas!

A little time consuming, but super easy to make.  First, I stamped the glasses with black ink onto the card stock.  I then stamped the same image onto the back of a piece of silver glitter paper and cut out the little drink parts.  The candy cane and holly also came from the stamp set and I added a little rhinestone, silver ribbon, and a sentiment to top it off.

Thanks to Crafting Clare's Paper Moments for the inspiration :)

Materials Used:
  • Stampin' Up - happy hour, silver glitter paper
  • Paper - white cardstock
  • Other - black ink, red ink, green ink, silver ribbon

Paper Players Challenge #164

Here's what I came up with for this weeks challenge over at The Paper Players:

My grandparent's 60th wedding anniversary is next week and my mom has been asking me to make them a card.  I really liked this sketch and figured it was a great opportunity to finally get the card done!

I used a lot of different things for this card - stampin' ups A Word for You stamp set and Scallop Border Punch, 2 in scallop punch, gold and silver glitter, gold rhinestones, ribbon, some left over stickers I found, my cricut to cut out the numbers, and the little heart for newton's nook designs Winged Wishes set.  Wow, that was a mouthful!  Let me know what you think :)

Owl Punch Halloween Card

Here's a look at my first Halloween card I made this year.  For this one, I used the Stampin' Up owl punch again to make the little bat and ghost.  The ghost is made by cutting the ears off of the owl and turning it upside down.  The bat is just the owl with the wings made out of two bitty butterfly punches.  So cute!!  I love the owl punch because you can make so many different little critters with it.

This item is also for sale on my etsy shop.

Minion's First Day of School

Today I have another Minion card to share (you can see my original post here and my "partying minion" card here).  I made this for best friend Jessica.  She teaches third grade and her "first day of school" is this week.  It turned out super cute and I was even able to stamp "have a wonderful day" in white ink to make it look like chalk.  I was originally going to make her a minion card for her birthday, but it's not until May so I came up with this in the mean time :)

Available for purchase through my etsy stop.
Materials Used:
  • Stamps: "have a wonderful day"
  • Other: stampin up owl punch, d'vine swirl embossing folder, black marker, googley eyes

Merry Monday Challenge #75

Here's the second card that I'm making for my mom to use as her Christmas cards this year.  I pulled out a Stampin' Up set from last holiday season, Scentsational Seasons.  I love this set ... especially because it has matching framelets that make cutting out the images a ton easier :)

To make the coco, I stamped a separate image with brown ink, cut out the drink part, and glued it to the red image on the card.  Took a little longer to put together (especially since I had 30 of them!) but they turned out really cute!

I am also submitting this card for the Merry Monday Christmas Card Challenge Card Club #75 Challenge on Always Playing with Paper.

Materials Used:
  • Stamps: scentsational seasons, happy holidays
  • Other: cardstock, ink, scentsational season framelets, northern flurry embossing folder, scallop trip, red and white polka dot ribbon, rhinestones

Jolly Christmas

I must be getting excited for Christmas early this year ... all I've been working on this past week are tons of Christmas cards!  I got the No Peeking stamp set from Stampin' Up at the end of the holiday season and finally was able to use it today.

Here's the first card I made.  These are going to be the first of two cards that I'm making for my mom to use as her Christmas cards this year.  And, of course, I made a few for myself as well :)

Here's some close up pictures.  To make the penguin, I first stamped the image with black ink on the card.  I then stamped the image with green and blue on a separate sheet of cardstock, cut out the scarf and hat, and then glued the pieces to the card.  The nose was made by using an orange marker.

Materials Used:
  • Stamp: no peeking (retired)
  • Other: cardstock, ink, northern flurry embossing folder, green ribbon, ornament punch, rhinestones, orange marker
